An Introduction to our Programs

We envision our programs developing from the student outward, from their most basic needs towards a multitude of options.

Our Gateway Program is the program that will allow for the closed gate on efficient and successful learning to be opened. It is the entryway and initial step towards a lifetime of achievement, self-fulfillment and realizing personal satisfaction. More specific details about our Gateway Program HANDLE can be viewed on this website, and at www.handle.org.

Our Walkway Programs are a combination of various Cognitive Training Programs that are the secondary steps towards academic success. There are a vast number of cognitive training programs available worldwide, and are based upon the five decade old concept of neuroplasticity. That is, throughout our lifetimes, the brain has the capacity to change and strengthen. These programs are focused on training and strengthening the processes within the brain utilized in learning.

However, modern Neuroscience has unquestionably and undeniably proven that stressed systems are not free to strengthen. Attempts to engage in cognitive training programs will only be truly successful and optimal by only involving those neurodevelopmental systems that are not stressed or shut down because of other Attentional Priorities. When we have been able to address the neurodevelopmental needs of a student through The Gateway Program and our “whole-person approach” in our environment, we can then begin to strengthen the entire learning system, as an integrated system. Because we want to discern which systems are challenged, we include HANDLE Screenings for everyone upon intake into our programs.

At this point, we may find hidden strengths that had been taxed aiding other systems, having made them less efficient. These hidden strengths would then emerge as they are now in a position to function as they were designed. Alternately, we may find areas that need some remedial work as they had not been able to develop fully and naturally due to underlying stresses or neurodevelopmental challenges. These processes underlie the skills required to be a successful learner, such as those used in mathematics, speech, language and reading. We may also find that once the neurodevelopmental needs have been addressed, that pieces of seemingly disconnected information begins to make sense as it falls into its proper place with understandable relational connections.

Our Walkway Programs then become the bridge towards academic successes, and are designed based on individual needs.

Our Pathways Programs are the branching out from the singular walkway programs of cognitive training. Pathway Programs lead in the development of many aspects in the life of a student. Pathway Programs build towards a lifetime of learning. Whereas the Walkway Programs strengthen the skills of learning, Pathway Programs explore the universe of knowledge. Our Pathway Programs are designed to capture curiosity, develop knowledge seeking methodologies, apply knowledge, and create an eagerness to be immersed into the world of discovery.
